Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese – A Comfort Food Mashup That Will Melt Your Heart
Picture this: tender ground beef coated in a tangy sauce, nestled between gooey, melted cheese and crispy, buttery bread. This Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese is the ultimate nostalgic treat that brings back childhood memories with every bite!
Ingredients:
•1 pound ground beef
•1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
•1/2 cup ketchup
•2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
•1 teaspoon garlic powder
•Salt and pepper to taste
•8 slices of Texas toast
•1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
•4 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions:
1.In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s tender and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Add in the chopped onions and sauté until they’re soft and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
2.Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, mixing well. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
3.While the beef is simmering, heat another skillet over medium-low heat. Spread butter generously on one side of each slice of Texas toast.
4.Place four slices of the toast butter-side down in the skillet. Layer on a generous scoop of the Sloppy Joe mixture, followed by a handful of shredded cheddar cheese. Top with the remaining slices of toast, butter-side up.
5.Grill each sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is wonderfully melted.
6.Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and savor the deliciousness!
